I ASKED FOR A 13, BUT THEY DREW A 31!
Celebrating another trip around the sun with a new artist and new ink, the rockstar that is @shelltattoos!
Alright, it’s becoming a pattern: another birthday, another tattoo… or two. I wasn’t intending to get a tattoo, but the more I looked at my leg, I realised, yes, I do want a tattoo.

A small one, but a whole lot of pain
Adding two mid-year bangers because I can’t seem to go more than a few months without the tattoo itch
I’m very happy to see that Hannah is still thriving at Wicked Ink, she’s becoming increasingly popular and in high demand for her fantastic designs. Although her pieces are getting larger, I still go in for small ones to decorate my leg. Plus, Wicked Ink Campbelltown is a delightful gem of a shop out in the Sydney suburbs. All the tattooists and reception team there has such a great bond so I do recommend paying them a visit.

Work Gives You Cash As A Gift and You Know What That Means!
My dirty thirty is here and the team at GGSP knew there was only one thing that I wanted in life, tattoos.
In March, I announced to GGSP that I would be leaving the team and starting a new job in the animation industry. I had about five weeks to spend as much time with the gang and for my birthday, we went out for burgers and beers.

What better way to memorialise my Dad than a tattoo with Tori Li!
After several sessions had to be rescheduled, the date was finally here! Tori’s tattoos deliver a combination of fine line perfection and colour wizardry.
I think a friend was the one who said that every time someone gets a tattoo, the dates between each one get smaller every time. I think that friend was Veronica. Thanks, Veronica, that idea is very much true now!

What’s a Pal to do After the Sydney Lockdown? Get Ink, Of Course!
As soon as bookings for one of my favourite places opened, the tattoo urge was real and Jessie was ready to take on the design for an anime tattoo.
Don’t trust one’s tired and bored self after lockdown, you’ll just end up with another tattoo. Oops!
I thought about getting something a little different when I booked with Jessie. She specialises in black and grey and fineline; a mother of two boys and a kickass tattooist who packs a punch. I’ve seen her do many anime pieces on her and Thirteen Feet Tattoo’s Instagram, so I decided I’d get a Bleach tattoo!

Sometimes Spontaneous Tattoos Are The Best Ones
I’m back in the wonderful tattoo world of hanntats and this one has transported me to a woodland fantasy just before the Sydney lockdown
Hann drew a custom piece for me that was similar to one of her previous flash sheets. It was a cute froggy boy and a butterfly situated on top of a mushroom. It was a classic hanntats design and I was keen for it on my skin.

A charming and fantastical delight!
hanntats’ designs are full of whimsy, ranging from trad roses to adorable critters in the woodlands. It’s hard to believe she’s an apprentice tattooer!
I started filling up my Instagram feed with tattooers whose aesthetic matched mine. I have been enjoying saturated colour tattoos and bold linework and I’m getting the itch for my own “patchwork sleeve”. I stumbled across hanntats, who’d only just begun her tattoo journey last year and did her first tattoo this year in March.

That Desert Aesthetic
Julie Bolene’s big and bold tattoos saturated in deep colours are everything I wanted to complement the end of my vacation in Southern California.
I first discovered Julie Bolene’s tattoos through treacle tatt’s video titled “L.A. Tattoo Artists You Should Go To”. At the time, I hadn’t decided that I was travelling to L.A. but followed the artists mentioned because I wanted to expand my knowledge of tattoo artists abroad.

Beautiful Designs & Great Blend of Colour
Tori Li’s tattoos display immense attention to detail and care for each and every one of her clients.
I’m one of those types of people who didn’t really think about what I envisioned to be tattooed on my body. My first tattoo was a simple quote and linework that I had done in a lovely tattoo shop on Sunset Boulevard, LA. The place was very clean and decorated with various flash sheets and artworks along the walls. I knew the place could be trusted. Once I got back to Australia, I knew I wanted more tattoos but I wasn’t sure what.
